Project Snapshot: Hulcher Crew Performs Asphalt Work at Rail Yard

Project description

A 40-foot stretch of road between the tracks and the trim tower was badly pitted with potholes, and needed repair. Hulcher deployed a skip loader, vibrate roller, vibe-plate, roller and dump truck. After cutting out the old road’s ballast to sub grade, Hulcher’s crew graded the area, laid a new 6” layer of asphalt to create the new road and rolled it smooth. Once the road was finished, the crew hauled off the old rock and asphalt for proper disposal.

Railroads and industrial facilities across the country depend on Hulcher’s experience to perform maintenance projects like this each year.

Hulcher's maintenance services

Hulcher supplements its five main service lines (Railroad / Mechanical, Engineering, Transfer / Load Adjust, Environmental and Disaster Response) with various maintenance services. These include vegetation control, asphalt work, demolition, snow removal, painting, building washing, litter clean-up and manual labor. Maintenance services may require the use of heavy equipment and Hulcher maintains a nationwide fleet of excavators, dozers, dump trucks, track and wheel loaders, and more to meet these needs. Hulcher’s crews are trained and certified to work for all Class 1 Railroads and being a railroad contractor, Hulcher is approved for operations within 25 feet of the track. Hulcher brings a level of experience, railroad professionalism and the right qualifications to maintenance tasks that no other contractor’s personnel can match.
