Dozer Rake
The Hulcher Dozer Rake is Hulcher's special, patent-pending attachment for a Caterpillar® D5 dozer, designed specifically for ballast leveling, the even distribution or removal of ballast from beneath railroad tracks.
The Dozer Rake is a narrow extension of the dozer's regular blade (pictured right). Operators attach the rake to the outward portion of the dozer’s blade and the system is ready to work. Track rail liners lift a stretch of track so the dozer can quickly run the rake blade beneath it to level the ballast underneath. While the track is lifted, work crews can easily inspect the elevated ties and replace any that are worn as well.
Switching to and from the rake configuration is fast and easy; the rake blade can be removed from the dozer in approximately 15 minutes. This means the dozer can be converted back to its normal configuration for other maintenance-of-way tasks with little down time, maximizing your efficiency and engineering dollars at the same time.
