Eighteen pallets of roofing tiles on a center beam railcar shifted during transit, crushing their pallets and damaging the banding. Hulcher sent a crew of five personnel, a forklift, replacement pallets and a banding machine to remedy the problem.
The crew unloaded the roofing materials onto the new pallets and the Hulcher forklift placed them back on the car. Once the pallets were properly positioned, the crew used the banding machine to secure the load with 1.5” steel band, cabling and 2” x 6” wood pieces in accordance with AAR standards.
The customer needed this job done quickly to reduce expenses resulting from shipping delay; Hulcher’s crew deployed to the jobsite and completed the work in five hours.
Railroads and grain, coal, and industrial facilities across the country trust Hulcher’s experience to perform tie-down, transfer, load adjustment and load reduction projects like this each year.
Hulcher’s specialized equipment, such as portable self-contained pneumatic conveyors, hi-rail vacuum trucks, telescoping forklifts, telehandlers, grapple trucks, excavators and cranes, can respond quickly to virtually any transfer situation. Our crews and equipment are strategically located around the United States so we can deploy to almost any location. We can perform load adjustments and transfers as independent projects or as part of derailment or disaster response projects.
